Hymn number 14, (a Little Flock 'bedrock' hymn, having been included in every edition from 1840-2011). 

This hymn is a 'parody' of Thomas Kelly's,  'Hark ten thousand harps and viols'; using the same metre and the same opening words.

find life in an Object alone worthy of your affections.

He had a perfect life, and He gave it up. We have a worthless one;
are we giving it up?

It has no value save as on the altar. See in the possession of it the
opportunity the Lord has given you to part with it. Indeed, it has
been said that the only value of any honour, wealth or talents here,
is the privilege you have of parting with them for Christ. We shall
never have a life up there to give, no life to be sacrificed in
heaven eternally. It is only for a very brief moment; and if we are
